In May 2010, a devastating 100-year flood struck Nashville. Clearing 111,000 tons of debris from areas that had never dealt with flooding was a high priority, and, as such, the human response to the disaster became the story. Musicians scheduled to perform in Music City still came to town but performed for free as food trucks circulated with warm meals and much-needed water.

"As a resident house band member, I'm proud to say the Grand Ole Opry - despite its famous stage being under four feet of water, never missed a Saturday night. We made churches and other auditoriums our temporary home until restoration work was complete," explains Megatrax Custom Producer Randy Hart.

Nashville NBC affiliate (WSMV) wanted to tip their hat to the entire community for the tireless and selfless way they had begun the recovery. Clear they wished to avoid a "thanks for watching us" message, they aimed to mirror their audience by communicating how proud it was to be a part of the region––enter the need for a song...

Hart continues, "Tim Hall, WSMV Creative Director, whom I had worked with on many occasions, got in touch. After a speedy, creative call, I realized the project required an effort different than the usual thirty-second image spot or promo—what we needed was a full-length song stating their unique message. I called Songwriter Hall of Fame inductee Gary Burr, and in shorthand style, told him what was required.

"The next day, Gary called, began to strum on his guitar, and sang When One Of Us Stands down the phone. At that moment, I knew he had created the perfect message, so I sent a recording to Tim at WSMV, who mirrored my sentiment. After fleshing the song out with a choir, orchestration, and a full band, it was ready to be synced with video."
